Description
Impulse voltage test systems are used for impulse voltage testing of transformers, cables, gas-insulated switchgears (GIS), arresters, and other high-voltage devices. The test systems generate lightning impulse voltage (LI, 1.2/50 µs), chopping lightning impulse voltages (LIC, front time 1.2 µs, front, crest or tail chopped), and switching impulse voltage (SI, 250/2500 µs) in accordance with IEC 60060-1; as well as IEC 60076-3 for transformers, and IEC 62067, 60840 und 60502-1 for cables).
Impulse voltage test systems are available for factory testing in three product lines (L, M, and G). Voltages ranging from 10 kV to 5700 kV (LI)/4500 kV (SI) can be generated depending on the product line.
There are test systems for voltages up to 1900 kV (LI) for on-site testing available.
The standard test system consists of an impulse voltage generator and three components (voltage divider, chopping sphere gap, and overvoltage correction). HIGHVOLT offers the Connection Point, a space-saving solution combining all three components in one device.
The standard version of the test systems has a digital transient recorder, type HiRES.
It delivers precise voltage measurements and offers a variety of features for controlling the impulse voltage system as well as capturing and evaluating measurement values. The HiRES itself offers no control; it comes with the software of the IPC.
Application
To generate impulse voltages for testing:
- Transformers
- Cables
- Gas-insulated switchgears (GIS)
- Arresters and other high-voltage devices
- For material testing in research or training programs
- For both factory and on-site testing
